What a nice interview! He must have really hard to reach this level. It's quite rare for British people as they usually learn a bit of foreign language and then give up totally. Thank you so much for having the interview with him. Would be interested in similar interviews in the future.
I am so amazed how ファーガスさん can speak Japanese just like a native Japanese speaker. I hope あかね先生 can have a second interview with him in the near future, and hope ファーガスさん can share his experience of improving pronunciation and reducing accent. Looking forward to it!
@レオン日本語 if I nitpick it there's still some flaws but I can say it's actually impressive to get this pronunciation in such short period of time so I got goosebumps
Wow!! He is super cool! When he’s speaking in Japanese, you can really tell his effort to sound so native. And then he speaks english, his natural english voice and accent are super distinct compare to when he’s speaking Japanese. Obviously, coz its two very different languages haha but still, it really is cool
Wow, what a level he reached in such a short time (if I understood right :) ). It's really hard for most English speakers to shake off their own accent when speaking another language. I can usually tell when it's someone from England based on my own lousy accent. Thanks for all the videos!!
I'm new to this channel because my mother tongue is Japanese. I was surprised by how good his Japanese pronunciation is. It's on point! I thought he grew up here in Japan, but I was wrong. Everyone in my family (actually except my second brother), including my late grandma speak/spoke English. One day my mom told me that a language learner who speaks a foreign language without an accent and sounds like a native has a good ear, and so does she. So, that might be the case with ファーガスさん.
Being almost this much native speaker is one of my Life Goals. It was absolutely staggering to see him being a British yet so good with the accent. More like a idol to me. ❤️
Yep, same here. I have been studying Japanese for a few years and im still struggling to remember all the kanjis and the vocabulary in the video... Japanese is NOT my first language (I know French, English, Spanish and some basic Chinese phrases) so I have experience with language learning but Japanese is just another level of difficulty.... After all this time, I sometimes feel like I will never get to a conversational level but this dude managed to become almost native in that time span. It gives me hope that one day, I will be able to speak like that without my head exploding lol. Anw, that was my experience with Japanese... I will probably have to go to Japan in order to become as good as him haha.
Thank you so much for making this video. I am especially impressed by his answer for the last question. His advice is absolutely useful for anyone who uses foreign languages at the work place. Hope to see more interview videos like this in the future. Arigato, Akane sensei!
I’ve been studying Japanese for the past few days to see if I can learn it but I always felt like Japanese was a bit like Spanish where people just say words extremely fast and even if I knew the right vocabulary, I wouldn’t catch what they were saying but I feel after watching this if I did, I would actually be able to understand so it does boost my confidence to a certain degree 😂 ありがとう
This is so helpful. Akane-sensei's videos help me get into the mindset for my interview and give me little ideas for what to say to make a good impression. I'm very grateful.
I Am trying to learn Japanese that's y am watching it Even though I don't know anything what they are talking about am just listening it. I heard that only listing can also very helpful for learning language .❣️
Yes is helpfull be used with the sound of the language, but i really recommend to start study grammar with that the comprehension of japanese will be in another level.
Omg!! 😱 When I heard this video (didn't watch) I thought of a Japanese man. Can't believe that he's not. His pronunciation, accent are just perfect!!! He also speaks fluently and naturally !!!
he doesn't sound native but he has depth and decent conversational skills, his pitching, accent and conversation flow aren't native like tho still very impressive!
I wonder if he's an engineer. Learned Japanese to business/technical level rapidly, readily hired into a energy company, humble and practical advice...
This guy is crazy. I've been learning Japanese for 7 years and I can only dream to be at the level he is at. Admittedly the 4 years I took it in highschool I didn't learn much but holy cow. This guy must have spent an exorbitant anount of time studying. I'll be at Waseda for the next year taking classes in English in the school of commerce as well as Japanese language classes. Hopefully I will get closer to this guy's level but I also don't wanna torture myself studying all day. It's a hard balance!
being in Japan and learning Japanese there will give you lot of confidence..or else no matter how much u study...you won't be able to speak fluently ..
Enjoy the bento in front of building 22 your new home! But tbh the language clubs will probably be more helpful than classes at Waseda - the best way to learn is by drinking lol
